Numbers
Count, make ten, add and take away
From counting three apples to sums within ten and on to the numbers past ten. Every idea is shown with things a child can tap before it is shown with a digit: a ten-frame fills up, a number bond splits five into two and three, and only then does the number pad appear. Each age band has its own units below, and new units are added every week.

What your child learns
By the end of this world
- Counts to ten by tapping each thing once, and types the digit that matches.
- Sees a ten-frame and says how many without counting one by one.
- Knows the pairs that make five and ten, and uses them to add and take away.

A real lesson: “The ten-frame” from Make 10
How one lesson goes, step by step
Masti opens with: “This is a ten-frame. It has ten boxes.” “Tap boxes to fill it up to five.” Everything she says is spoken aloud.
Warm-up. One quick item from an earlier lesson, so last week's learning stays fresh.
Learn. Masti teaches the idea with pictures, in her own words, before anything is asked.
Try. 3 goes of Ten frame, with help one tap away. Before a new kind of question, a short “Watch me first” demo shows the gesture.
Play. One game of Number bond with the same idea.
Check. 3 goes of Ten frame with no help. Only this step counts towards mastery, and a wrong answer gets an amber nudge, never a red cross.
Celebrate. Stars, XP, the streak tick and the next lesson's name.

The skills it builds
And why they matter at this age
Counting and subitising
Tapping each apple once, in order, with Masti counting along, is one-to-one correspondence: the idea that a number is a count of things, not a sound in a song. Subitising, seeing three without counting, comes from the same tiles.
The ten-frame
Two rows of five make every number under ten visible at a glance. Seven is a full row and two more. A child who sees numbers this way adds without finger-counting later on.
Number bonds
"Two and what make five?" is the whole of addition and subtraction in one picture. The bonds to five and ten are practised until they are known, not worked out.
Adding and taking away
Sums arrive last, written the way school writes them, after the child has made them with counters many times. The digit then names something the child already understands.
7 kinds of practice in this world
What the activities look like
Every activity is one of fourteen kinds the whole app shares, so a child who has met one never has to learn a new screen for the next lesson.

Tap to count
Tap each thing once. Masti counts along out loud.

Type the number
Count the things, then type the digit on the number pad.

Pattern next
Red, blue, red, blue… tap what comes next.

Sequence order
Put the pictures in order: first, next, last.

Ten frame
Fill the boxes to make a number, and see why 5 and 5 make 10.

Number bond
Two parts make a whole: 2 and what make 5?

Choose the picture
Hear a word, tap the picture that matches it.
By age
The same world, pitched to the child
Explorer 3–5
Taps to count and fills ten-frames. Masti says every number aloud.
Builder 5–7
Types digits, makes five and ten, and starts adding with counters.
Master 7–10
Mixed sums within ten without help, then on to what comes next.

Story Time books for this world
Read aloud by Masti, with a short quiz at the end: The Party · Four Balloons · Six Clouds · Eight Fish.
